Gibraltar’s businesses are about to be offered another exciting opportunity later this month (February 2012) when one of the UK’s most successful training and consulting companies, founded  by  Gibraltarian  Donahue Cortes,  launches  a  new  range  of  First  Aid  Training services.

Active  Solutions  Consulting  Group  (ASCG)  located  in  West  Sussex  close  to  London, began life as a training provider for cabin crew and pilots, and since has expanded to include  fire  safety  consulting,  first  aid  and  management  development  training. The company’s CEO, Donahue, a former airline crew member and manager, left his airline career years ago to pursue ambitions to set up a business that would offer outstanding  levels  of  quality  and  customised  customer  service,  yet  maintaining  a  cost  effective approach.

Open First Aid Courses Scheduled for Gibraltar

More exciting news this month as Active First Aid announce a range of dates when the company will be delivering training in Gibraltar. The training courses, which are scheduled to be delivered in February 2012 are already generating much interest and a number of bookings were made almost as soon as the dates were announced.

Open courses are now set for 09 February 2012, 27 February 2012, 09 March 2012, 27 March 2012 and 27 April 2012.  The course is an interactive one day training session open to any business and is designed for individuals acting as first aiders in the workplace.

The course provides a three year valid certificate and fully complies with UK HSE requirements for Emergency First Aid in the workplace. Our one day Emergency First Aid at Work Training Course - Level 2 Award (1 day) provides a HSE approved qualification as required with the changes that came into effect on 1st October 2009 and the guidance on assessing the needs of First Aid in your workplace. This first aid course provides a qualification for individuals acting as first aiders in the workplace and who are required to attend the one day course as determined by the workplace risk assessment.

Learning Outcomes for Emergency First Aid at Work training course

By the end of the Emergency First Aid at Work Course the attendees will be able to:

  • Define their role as an emergency first aider.
  • Describe how to minimise risks to themselves and others.
  • Identify first aid equipment and how to use it.
  • Describe how to conduct a scene survey, a casualty assessment and call for help.
  • Demonstrate how to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) using a mannequin doll.
  • Describe how to identify and treat a choking casualty with a partially and completely blocked airway.
  • Demonstrate how to control severe external bleeding.
  • Describe signs and symptoms of shock and how to manage a casualty who is in shock.
  • Describe how to manage a casualty with a burn and with other minor injuries.
